Stocks have risen more in the U.S. than in other developed markets primarily because of a performance gap between two industry groups. Technology accounted for 21.4 percent of the S&P 500’s value as of Tuesday and just 6.3 percent of EAFE’s, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. Finance was weighted at 12.8 percent and 18.9 percent, respectively.
