Netflix Shrugs Off Disney+

Netflix reported 2019 4th Quarter earnings of $1.30 per share on revenue of $5.5 billion. The high range earnings estimate was $0.68 per share on revenue of $5.4 billion. That’s a 91% beat on earnings! Shares are down a bit regardless.

Revenue guidance was a bit lower than expectations, 1st quarter 2020 expected to be $5.73 billion vs $5.76 billion estimate, but again blowing out earnings expectations… guidance is $1.66 per share vs $1.13 estimate.

Subscriber growth was mixed, Netflix added 8.76 million globally beating estimates, 8.33 million of those being international and only 420k in the US. The US number was below previous guidance of 600k.

Netflix’s new show “The Witcher” is on pace to be its biggest first-season original TV series ever. 76 million customer households watched the show in the first four weeks of release.
